Artist Bio: Kimberly Garza

, Texas
a bridge between two worlds and the birthplace of the artist Kimberly Garza.

All through school she participated in all art competitions, various public projects and even a solo exhibition at the Casa de Cultura in Nuevo Laredo.  She began her studies in art at the Laredo Community College and then at the University of Texas in San Antonio. Before completing a Fine Arts degree she moved to Spain for over two years were she gave birth to a daughter. Upon returning to the United States she completed her studies and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and a Minor in Art History.

During her studies she received a scholarship to study abroad in Berlin, Germany and became involved with Artpace, a residency program and education center for contemporary art in San Antonio.  Kimberly is currently pursuing a Master’s in Bilingual and Bicultural Studies from the University of Texas San Antonio

Kimberly has exhibited works in various locations in South Texas and Mexico including the 11th Annual Young Latino Artists exhibition at the Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin and A&M Corpus Christi Gallery. Notable upcoming events include curating an exhibit at the University of Texas Satellite Gallery titled Con Ajo y Baroque.

Her work consists of oil paintings, drawings and other mixed media projects including video and photography. Kimberly is a conceptual artist with an emphasis on color, form and material.
